Our Aim
The objectives of The Vines Residents & Ratepayers Association (The VRRA) are to represent members in matters relating to the planning, development, maintenance and general amenity of The Vines. Our aim is to promote, preserve and protect the character, lifestyle and unique environment of The Vines.
The first houses in the suburb of The Vines were built in the late 1980’s. The suburb was designed around the then 27 hole golf course. By the early 1990’s there were sufficient home owners and residents to justify the creation of a residents association.
The Vines Ratepayers & Residents Association was initially known as The Vines Property Owners’ Association and was legally constituted and incorporated under Western Australian law. The first Annual General Meeting was held in 1995.
Since that time The Vines has grown significantly and with that growth there has come a wide range of issues related to the expansion of the resort and country club, the increase in density and the volume of properties built in The Vines. These changes have in turn changed the road interconnection between The Vines and surrounding suburbs. All these factors have contributed to an increase in traffic and substantial pressure on our local road network.
A further increase in development will profoundly affect the local flora and fauna, causing irreversible damage to the environment of The Vines.
Over the last 26 years, members of succeeding management committees have had a wide range of issues to attend to. At the same time, they have tried to ensure the Association has met its obligations, as detailed in the objectives of VRRA. At all times the VRRA has striven to ensure the views of members and residents has been clearly represented and presented to external agencies such as the City of Swan, the City of Swan Councillors, State government ministers, various government departments, Police, developers and The Vines (WA) resort.
Over the years we have built up relationships with these organisations and are able to call upon them for assistance on a wide range of issues.
The VRRA has in the past organised and participated in various social events for residents such as: the annual suburb Christmas family event ("Christmas in The Vines"), Clean-up Australia Day, neighbourhood BBQs, Sundowners and social dinners. We look forward to holding similar events in the near future.
Membership is open to anyone who lives in The Vines. We look forward to serving our community.
