The overall plan includes the concrete two-storey driving range, high density over-55s housing, and a short golf course, (commonly known as “pitch and putt” course). All of these are proposed to be built on land which is currently part of the golf course facility.

 

The impact to The Vines and this region of Perth from the above is significant and multi-faceted:

 

1. Loss of sporting amenity, impacting both residents and tourism
2. Impact on our fragile and complex ecosystem which is home to huge range of wildlife, including Federally protected and critically endangered Carnaby’s Cockatoos, some 90 species of birds, Quendas (Southern Brown Bandicoots), possums, kangaroos and many other creatures
3. Local climate change through the loss of green open space
4. Increased bushfire risk, particularly if any golf course lakes are in-filled.
5. Impact on local residents’ quality of life, including mental health
6. Pressure on infrastructure
